Australian Visitors

Members of Cookstown Rotary Club have recently hosted Group Study Exchange participants from Brisbane on their visit to Ireland.

At our evening meeting on Tuesday September 6, members and friends were able to meet and hear from the five strong group. Their leader was Louise Howden, President of Salisbury Rotary Club near Brisbane.  Louise, Kristina, Ellen, Ash and Mathew all spoke eloquently about their backgrounds and work. They were very positive about their trip to date and the benefits of this exchange for their professional development.

President Issac ,wishing to bring some culture to the evening, produced a songsheet and all present had to join in renditions of classic Irish and Australian melodies. The evening ended with members of Cookstown Rotary Club, led by Assistant Governor David Falkingham, reciting an Irish blessing to the group.

Having already been with the Belfast and Coleraine Clubs, our Australian friends left for Galway. We wish them every success for the rest of their visit in Ireland.

Finally,  many thanks to the members of our club who acted as hosts for the 4 days.
