Pakistan Appeal Launched
Having recently raised over £25,000 for the Haiti appeal, Cookstown Rotary Club's focus has now turned to raising funds for victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan. The UN says Pakistan's worst flooding in nearly a century has now affected more than four million people and left at least 1,600 dead with charities scrambling to get aid to the worst affected regions. With fresh flood warnings and more rain forecast - and thousands struggling with shortages of food, clean water, shelter and medicine - UK aid agencies say the situation on the ground is desperate.
Cookstown Rotary Club has launched a Pakistan fundraising appeal and are keen to speak to schools, clubs, churches etc. who are willing to assist in the fundraising efforts. All funds raised will be used to purchase items such as water filtration devices and life straws, to be sent immediately to the devastated area. Groups and individuals interested in assisting the fundraising appeal are asked to contact Rotary Club President Paul Creighton on 07766703038 or 8676 3837.
