QUIZ NIGHT FOR AFRICA

Killymoon Golf Club was the venue for a general knowledge quiz organised by Cookstown Rotary Club on Thursday 27 November 2008.

The aim was to raise funds for two african charities that  local people are directly involved with. The proceeds were to aid :---

Maud Kells in her work at the Mulita Mission Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Father McGuckin for his Zambian Orphanage Project.

On a cold frosty night almost 100 rotarians and friends turned out to provide 15 teams for a varied, competitive quiz set by Cyril Rafferty. A raffle was also held for prizes provided by rotarians and ,together with entry fees, raised a magnificent  £600 for the two charities. An enjoyable evening was had by all, with the taking part being more important than the winning!

Much thanks are due to Rotarian Alastair Laird for his organisation of the event and he was praised for his efforts by President Stephen Wilson.
