Sudden Death of Past President
Members of Cookstown Rotary Club were greatly saddened by the death of Rowland Cummings on 31 August 2008.
He unfortunately did not survive an operation to remove a brain tumor.
Rowland was a founder member of Cookstown Rotary Club and had been President in 2005-2006. He had been a well known,successful and respected businessman in the tyre distribution sector. His interests include golf,bridge and rotary. Indeed for many years he competed in the Rotary golf competition.
Rowland had a dry sense of humour and always had good tales to tell. He was in typical good form at the installation of President Stephen in July with a few stories for the audience.
All members of Cookstown Rotary Club send their heartfelt condolences to his wife Elspeth and his sons. The family requested that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Cookstown Rotary Club and this reflects the interest that Rowland had for Rotary. His funeral will take place in Desertcreat Church on Wednesday 3 September at 2.00pm.
