Visit by District Governor - Jan 2010
District Governor , Tom Murphy , paid a visit to Cookstown Rotary Club on Tuesday 19 January 2010. We were the 61st club that he had visited during his year of office. Tom is from Athlone so his stamina in getting round clubs in Ireland is to be greatly admired!
After a meeting with club chairmen to here about our plans, Tom joined us for lunch and then spoke to a large turnout of members. His theme was the family of Rotary and that the future of Rotary is in our hands. He said that Cookstown Rotary Club was in many ways a model club with outstanding achievements. He challenged us not to be afraid of change and to ensure we had a thriving club for many years to come. He spoke of our youth leadership success and the importance of supporting rotarians in tough economic times. Work on shelter boxes and with polio eradication will be important challenges for us.
Tom presented President Eileen with the District banner that reminds us that "the future of rotary is in your hands."
