Zimbabwe Talk

At the regular lunchtime meeting on Tuesday 12 January, members of the club were given a fascinating talk on current life in Zimbabwe by Liam and Bernadette Harbinson.  The Cookstown couple have lived in Zimbabwe for many years and are involved in work in orphanages for children with aids and physical disabilities. This work is through a Trust which is supported by the Rotary Club of Harare.

When back in Cookstown they hold a couple of fundraising events each year and this is where President Eileen discovered a Rotary link.
Members where shocked to here how conditions had deteriorated in Zimbabwe over the past 10 years and that the orphanages only survived on charitable donations.

All agreed with President Eileen's comments that this work was worthy of our support.
